The Clayton County Public Schools School Board (CCPS) on Monday approved a “ pandemic bonus ” of $ 2,000 for all CCPS employees, payable by March 31.
“We are proud to offer our employees this unique Pandemic Bonus as a thank you for their continued dedication to our students and the school system during this unusual time,” said Dr. Morcease J. Beasley, Superintendent / CEO of Schools . “We will use Governor Kemp’s funds and local funds as needed to ensure that every employee receives the pandemic bonus. These funds will be paid to employees as a separate payment from their regular month-end compensation. ”
While the CCDS has remained virtual since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, district officials have said they are ready to discuss when a safe return to school will take place for employees and staff. students.
Among those plans are a possible date for staff to return to school two weeks before students, expansion of COVID testing sites, parent surveys, a plan to distribute vaccinations once the level 1B starts and more.
“At some point we’re going to come back to face-to-face instruction,” Beasley said. “As we continue to monitor the data and see a decrease in positive cases, we are increasingly optimistic about the possibility of coming back face to face as soon as possible. However, we will not jeopardize the safety of our students and employees by acting prematurely. “
