Clayton Kershaw fired after seven perfect innings

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw accomplished nearly everything he could in his future Hall of Fame career, but he never pitched a perfect game. After throwing seven perfect innings in his 2022 season debut on Wednesday afternoon against the Minnesota Twins, some fans may have thought they were going to witness history.

At 34, with more than 2,000 career innings thrown on his left arm and a well-documented injury history, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts opted to play it safe with Kershaw and pull him out of the game after the seventh inning.
