Claremore, Pryor, Salina Damaged From Tornadic Storms; Power Lines Down With Streets Blocked

A series of storms involving tornadoes caused considerable damage in Claremore and parts of Pryor late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Salina was also affected by Saturday night’s storms and Mayor Plumlee said the city’s water, gas and electricity were shut off to deal with the situation.

Claremore police said on social media that power was out and trees and power lines were down around the town.

CPD confirmed that northbound Highway 66 was closed at Flint Road.

The authorities are asking everyone to stay at home and not go out into the streets if they do not need to go out.

Mayor Debbie Long also warned people not to drive on the street to avoid queues.

News On 6 Storm Trackers near Highway 20 are reporting electrical lightning, downed lines and damage along the highway.

Widespread damage throughout Claremore, centered along Route 66 just south of Will Rogers Boulevard, was reported.

The Rogers County Jail and Claremore City Hall were reported to be damaged, according to our storm trackers in the city. We also received photos of damage to the roof of Claremore First Baptist along Will Rogers Boulevard.

Viewer Jeff Starkweather sent in a photo of damaged trees, damaged roofs and downed utility poles in Claremore, near E. Fry St. and Park Crest Ct.

This storm also knocked out power to parts of Owasso, likely due to straight-line winds.

Meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz reported signatures of damage appearing on radar in the Keetonville area just before 11:30 p.m.

Thousands of power outages have been reported in Rogers County.

The American Red Cross has opened evacuation centers for those affected by severe weather.
