City of Houston scrambles to repair main water break after it sent water 20 feet into the air at Gessner Road and Richmond Avenue

HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — A large water main break in west Houston sent water nearly 20 feet into the air Monday morning.

A viewer told ABC13 about the “geyser” happening on Richmond Avenue and Gessner Road.

The break could be seen filling the streets with water and hosing down passing cars.

City of Houston workers said they had to shut off the water to that line and wait for the pressure to drop before assessing the damage.

Neighbors told ABC13 the water had been gushing since 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

As of 1:30 p.m., the city crew was still working to repair the break, but said they were unsure how long the repairs would take.
