Citrus exports up 42% at the end of the 22 campaign

Citrus recorded a record volume in terms of export during the current season, registering 735,400 tons, representing a growth of 42%. This growth trend also affects exports of fresh fruits and vegetables.

All citrus species and all destinations were affected by this increase, informs in a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.

For the export volume of small citrus fruits, it reached 628,600 tons, an increase of 40% compared to the previous campaign. With regard to orange exports (large fruits), they recorded a growth of 62% to reach a volume of 97,200 tons.

With regard to exports of market garden products, they recorded a growth of 11% as of June 13, 2022, reaching a volume of around 1,418,600 tonnes.

As for the volume of tomato exports, they are produced 608,600 tons, against 521,800 tons during the previous season, an increase of about 17%.

Despite the unfavorable climatic conditions that affect the whole world, the export sector of fresh fruits and vegetables registered ” good performance “during the current season, says the supervisory ministry.
