The cicada invasion was responsible for a Monday crash in Ohio, Cincinnati police said.
The cicada slipped through an open car window, hitting the driver in the face, causing a one-time car crash in the East End of Cincinatti, police said in a report. Twitter message.
The driver sustained minor injuries, but the vehicle sustained heavy damage, CBS reported.
This year’s batch of periodic cicadas, known as Brood X, has hampered travel on the east coast this season. A swarm infested the outer shell of the White House press plane on Tuesday evening, delaying the plane’s flight by more than six and a half hours.
