Twitter users were delighted with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (DN.Y.) ‘s light takeover over Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) This week.
The viral video (above) shows McConnell walking down a long hallway from the United States Capitol to a lectern for a press conference. But, seemingly out of nowhere, Schumer enters from the left of the screen and beats him.
“The prerogatives of the majority,” cracked the New York Democrat.
McConnell was filmed laughing in a corner.
When his turn to speak finally came, the Kentucky Republican referred to his predecessor Bob Dole’s quote about “the most dangerous place in Washington is between Chuck Schumer and a microphone.”
MSNBC’s Ari Melber set the tone for Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé’s song “Savage”.
“The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” gave it a pandemic twist:
Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer reminds Republican Senator Mitch McConnell who is in charge.
Now, if we can bring that same energy to the filibuster, we might do something.pic.twitter.com/kPGznquZos
