Christina Aguilera shares lesson of ‘chaotic’ environment growing up

Christina Aguilera take a moment to think.

While accepting the Spirit of Hope award at the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Sept. 29, the pop icon opened up about the impact she wanted to have on the music industry after experiencing a rocky childhood. The “Genie In A Bottle” singer said she vowed to use “her voice and position for something deeper than just making records.”

“I wanted my songs to have authentic purpose and meaning,” Christina, 41, said at the awards ceremony. “Growing up in a chaotic environment, I realized that sharing my story was key to connecting with others who may be struggling to make themselves heard. From there, I found that the messages, lessons and stories of my songs are one of the greatest gifts I can give.”
