Chris Eubank Sr stretched his opponent with one of the fastest knockouts ever, then posed for the camera as his opponent was counted out to send a message to Nigel Benn

Chris Eubank Sr scored one of the fastest boxing knockouts ever when he flattened Reginaldo Dos Santos with a single punch in 1990.

The official stoppage time was just 20 seconds, but in reality it took the Briton less than ten seconds to eliminate his Brazilian opponent.

Eubank knocked out Dos Santos with the first right hand he threw

At the time, Eubank was on the verge of his legendary first fight with bitter rival Nigel Benn.

Benn was the WBO middleweight champion (at a time when the belt was admittedly less regarded than it is today) and Eubank had risen through the ranks as a 24-0 contender.

To prepare for the title fight, which took place in November 1990, Eubank faced 11-4 Dos Santos in September.

While the unknown Brazilian wasn’t expected to provide a huge challenge, few could have predicted how easy the fight would be.

When the first bell rang, Eubank came out in the middle of the ring and Dos Santos walked to meet him there.

The pair both threw attempted kicks which failed.

And then, within the first ten seconds, Eubank threw a gigantic right hand that landed flush with his opponent’s chin.

Dos Santos collapsed to the canvas, then bizarrely stretched his arms out in an unusual reaction to the knockout.

Oddly, the referee didn’t immediately wave the fight off and instead began administering a count.

Dos Santos sat down, but was in no condition to continue boxing.

Eubank, knowing he had won as soon as the punch landed, walked towards the TV camera during the referee’s count.

He put his gloves together and posed with his downed opponent in the background to send a message to Benn, whom he then defeated two months later.
