China sends lunar rover to investigate ‘hut’ on the other side of the moon

A Chinese lunar rover has been sent on a mission to investigate a mysterious cube-shaped object spotted on the far side of the moon.

The strange white object appears eerily geometric on the stark black horizon of the images and prompted scientists from China’s Change 4 mission to send its Yutu 2 rover on a 2-3 month trip to check it out, according to Our Space.

The Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) describes the object as a “mysterious hut”.

The organization also joked that the object could be a house built by aliens following a forced landing in the Von Kármán crater at the South Pole-Aitken Basin where the rover has been sailing since January 2019.

There appears to be a small “baby” impact crater right next to the object.

When it was discovered, scientists were eager to send the rover to investigate further, an effort of several months in addition to being at around 262 feet.

In July 2019, Yutu 2 made another unique discovery when he found a “bizarre and colorful” gel-like substance “with a mysterious luster.” The background was not explained.
