Chilling video shows NYPD shooting dead armed suspect

A chilling 44-second video captures the moment cops killed an armed suspect who police say fired an airsoft gun at an undercover officer in the Bronx.

The video, obtained by The Post, shows a man dressed in dark clothing carrying what appears to be a gun.

The man moves from the street to a sidewalk, takes several steps and then backtracks, before collapsing face down on the ground, footage from Friday’s incident shows.

An undercover officer appears to be on his police radio, and he and a second undercover officer are seen with guns before a third undercover officer emerges.

On Saturday, shaken residents remembered the fatal shooting.

Ital, 71, who lives near the scene, said his daughter, a chemistry teacher, was coming home when she entered the chaos.

The girl “saw the gun in the guy’s hand and when he pointed it at the police, the police didn’t hesitate to detonate him,” Ital said, adding that the police gunshot “came right in her face, in front of her”. .”

Ital said he got out and saw the suspect lying on the ground, on his back, as cops took turns trying to resuscitate him.

The weapon recovered from the shooting in the Bronx on Friday.

“The police – they were pumping his chest. When one was tired, the other would come and pump him,” Ital said.

The fatal shooting unfolded after a narcotics detective, conducting an independent investigation with other cops near Seneca Avenue and Hunts Point Avenue, heard a man among a group of arguing people say he was going to recover a gun in his truck around 7 p.m., police mentioned.

Police spotted the 51-year-old exiting the vehicle with the gun after the detective informed his comrades near the scene to be on high alert, authorities said.

As the suspect walked down the sidewalk, he was confronted by one of the plainclothes detectives, who shouted, “‘Police, don’t move! ‘” NYPD Deputy Chief Philip Rivera told a news conference from the scene.

Instead of complying, the suspect raised his gun and fired a shot, “just missing the detective’s head,” Rivera said.

The detective and a sergeant then returned fire 10 times, punching the man five times in the chest, police said. The suspect was taken to Lincoln Hospital where he later died.
