A child has died and at least five people have been injured in an explosion in Dangri village, Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today. The blast was reported near the home of a victim of yesterday’s terror attack, officials said.
“An explosion occurred near the home of the first shot. Five people were injured. A child died of his injuries. Another critical. Media are urged to exercise caution,” the official said.
The nature of the explosion is unclear, the official added.
The incident occurred amid an extensive cordon and search operation aimed at locating two suspected terrorists involved in the attack, officials said.
The death toll in yesterday’s terror attack in the district rose to four after one of the injured civilians died in hospital.
Nine others injured in the incident are being treated, and doctors at the Government Medical College in Rajouri said the condition of some of them was “very critical”. Some of the seriously injured people were airlifted to Jammu.
The victims have been identified as Deepak Kumar, Satish Kumar and Pritam Lal and Shiv Pal.
This is the second incident of civilian killings in Rajouri district in the past two weeks, after two people were killed outside a military camp on December 16.
