Child and two others killed in Florida apartment

A toddler was among three people killed Saturday night in a shooting at an apartment in Jacksonville, Florida, authorities said.

Patrol units were dispatched to the complex around 10 p.m. following reports of shots fired, said JD Stronko, chief deputy of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Authorities found several people shot, including four adults and a 3-year-old child.

Three of them died, including the child. The victims have not been identified.

“They went to the apartments, perhaps to conduct a private sale of a dog, for reasons that are unknown to us at this time,” Stronko said, adding that an argument took place before shooting.

Two men were seen fleeing the scene, Stronko said. Police “have about as many questions about this incident as you do right now,” he said.
