CHICAGO (SCS) — The storms started on July 23. A severe storm shortly after midnight brought heavy rain to Lake and McHenry counties.
There is a severe thunderstorm warning for La Porte County, IN until 7:30 a.m. EDT and a severe thunderstorm warning for Cook, DuPage and Will counties until 6:45 a.m. CDT.
Hammond, Gary and Merrillville Indiana are also up for warning until 7:15 a.m. CDT.
Scattered storms for much of the morning with sunshine thereafter. More thunderstorms as evening approaches. Some of the thunderstorms tonight and night could be severe. See the severe risk chart for areas at MARGINAL, MILD, and ENHANCED risk levels. Heavy rains, destructive winds, hail are the threats. We cannot rule out an isolated tornado.
