Chicago weather alert: Record heat could hit Chicago on Wednesday
CHICAGO (SCS) — After the Chicago area experienced blistering heat on Tuesday, including a reading of 100° at Midway International Airport, temperatures will only cool to the upper 80s by late evening. Nighttime temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s under clear skies.

Another dangerous heat wave is forecast for Wednesday afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to high 90s with Heat Index values above 100 degrees. Record temperatures are expected in both O’Hare (97°) and Midway (99°), which would both be the highest for those locations on June 15.

A front will be at the center of a risk of thunderstorms Wednesday evening. The storms that develop could be strong or severe. Damaging winds are the main threat.

Highs near 90 degrees Thursday, then 80 Friday. Much cooler Saturday with highs in the 70s, but upper 60s near the lake. Temperatures rise again from Sunday, with the mid-90s for the start of the next working week.
