Chicago forecast calls for cloudy and windy conditions on Sunday – NBC Chicago

After a brief return to summery weather, fall will return in the coming days as cooler temperatures and windy conditions are expected on Sunday and the start of the work week.

Forecast models predict cloud cover will be the order of the day on Sunday, with occasional sunny spells, especially in the far south and southwestern suburbs.

Several isolated rounds of showers and potentially even an occasional thunderstorm are also expected, especially in the afternoon and evening in the region.

Gusty winds are also expected to occur as the day progresses, with gusts between 35 and 40 miles per hour at times during the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

These winds will cause dangerous surf conditions in Porter County, Indiana, leading officials to urge residents to stay safe along the shores of the lake.

High temperatures will likely settle into the upper 60s in much of the Chicago area, but parts of the region away from Lake Michigan’s influence could slide into the 70s during the post- midday.

Windy and cooler conditions are expected to continue through Monday, with highs only reaching 60 degrees in much of the region. Tuesday and Wednesday will likely see similar readings, with the NWS warning of the possibility of limited areas of frost on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Temperatures could potentially rebound into the upper 60s by Thursday, but some models show the possibility of remnants of future Hurricane Ian heading into the Midwest by next weekend.
