Chicago First Weather Alert: Heavy rain abates, but Flood Watch remains for most areas

CHICAGO (SCS) — Previous heavy rains in the Chicago area have mostly subsided, although a few northern areas of Cook, Lake (IL), and McHenry counties may face additional heavy rain Sunday afternoon and evening.

A few flood warnings remain, but many will be dropped by 5 p.m., except for the northern area.

A flood watch remains in place for the most part until 4 a.m. Monday.

Otherwise, another day of showers is expected on Monday before clear skies and warmer temperatures return. It shouldn’t produce so much rain.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Showers. Bottom 56.

MONDAY: Showers likely, especially the first half of the day. High 64.

EXTENDED: Skies are starting to clear early Tuesday and temperatures are warming daily throughout the weekend.
