CHICAGO (SCS) — High temperatures today hit the low 90s for the first time this year in several locations.
The 90° high at O’Hare broke a daily record high 40 years ago and was 22 degrees above average. It’s also the first 90-degree day at O’Hare since 2011.
Partly cloudy, humid and very warm tonight. Lows will be in the upper 60s and 70s in most places, but cooler along the northern shore.
Mainly sunny, windy and warm for Thursday with highs again in the 90s, but cooler along the northern shore. The O’Hare record for Thursday is 92, so we’ll just be shy. Heat index values will be in the upper 90s to lower 100s in many places, especially in areas to the west of the city.
Storm chances return Friday night through Saturday as a front moves through the area. A few thunderstorms could be strong. Cooler this weekend and for next week with highs in the 60s and 70s.
