Arnaut Danjuma was a revelation for Villarreal.

Chelsea are considering a €40million move for Arnaut Danjuma, according to Fichajes via The Hard Tackle. Tuchel remains in the market for attacking reinforcements, with the future of a few of his current forwards up in the air. Danjuma emerged as an option to bolster his front line.

The Dutchman first caught the eye with Bournemouth and secured a move to Villarreal last summer after a nearly flawless season in the Championship. The player carried his good form to La Liga, finishing the last campaign with 16 goals in 34 games. His exploits won him admirers at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are short of a specialist number nine following Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Inter Milan on loan in the summer. Danjuma could fill the void left by the Belgian, and the London giants plan to launch an attack on him soon.

Wesley Fofana is wanted at Stamford Bridge.

Brendan Rodgers insists Wesley Fofana and James Maddison will not be sold this summer. The French defender has been a target for Chelsea this summer, with Tuchel in desperate need of a new centre-back.

Speaking to the press, Rodgers said both players are assets and will not be offloaded.

“I have already mentioned, and I will say it again, these players are not for sale. They are very important players for us. I think, obviously, there is a situation at the club where we have to move certain players, but certainly it’s not about getting rid of anyone and everyone, especially our best assets,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers gave a blunt response when asked if Leicester would accept a big offer for both players.

“It would depend on the club,” Rodgers said.

Nobody wants Chelsea no. 9 jersey, says Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel says no player wants to don the number nine shirt at Chelsea. The shirt was last worn by Romelu Lukaku, who has since been loaned to Inter Milan.

Thomas Tuchel on the number 9 shirt: “Everyone who is longer than me in the club says to me ‘ah, you know, like he had the nine and he didn’t score and he had the nine and n ‘didn’t score either’ So now we have a moment where no one wants to touch number nine. #cfc

Speaking recently, Tuchel revealed that the general belief is that the shirt is cursed.

“It’s cursed, people tell me it’s cursed. It’s not the case that we leave it open for tactical reasons, for some players in the pipeline who come in and take it naturally. There’s Wasn’t a big demand for No.9, when players sometimes want to change the number. But surprisingly, no one wants to touch it,” Tuchel said.

He added:

“Everybody who’s been at the club longer than me is like ‘Ah, you know, like he had the nine, and he didn’t score, and he had the nine and didn’t score either’ So now we have a moment where no one wants to touch No. 9.”
