Chelsea move past Tottenham to stage Carabao Cup final clash with Arsenal or Liverpool as Tottenham outclassed by rivals London for second week in a row

Chelsea advanced to the Carabao Cup final after securing a 1-0 victory (3-0 overall) over Tottenham and arranging a trip to Wembley against either Arsenal or Liverpool.

After knocking out their north London rivals 2-0 in the first leg, the Blues put on another dominant away performance and were worthy winners in a comfortable night for the European Champions.

Spurs had two penalty decisions and a Harry Kane goal ruled out by VAR, but all three decisions were correct and incidents aside from the hosts never really sniffed.

Chelsea started the game off brilliantly, but it was Spurs who had the clearest first chance at the start of a dangerous free-kick, with Kane hitting a weak effort into the wall after a stupid foul from Andreas Christensen.

Timo Werner then gave the Blues a good opportunity after a poor defensive clearance from Davinson Sanchez, with his chipped effort hovering over the bar.

Lukaku almost gave Chelsea the lead when he unleashed a powerful effort directly on Pierluigi Gollini.

The Belgian played following a sumptuous performance from Antonio Rudiger but could not divert his effort around the Spurs goalkeeper.

It was a dazzling start to the game and a few moments later, Lucas Moura did well to come out of the center line before pulling his effort away from the post.

Chelsea almost took the lead when Lukaku and Werner combined well at the edge of the box with the Germany international slashing Malang Sarr who deflected his effort for a corner kick.

Antonio Rudiger gave the Blues a deserved lead shortly after the 15th minute and this came after a mistake by Gollini, who was selected ahead of Hugo Lloris.

Mason Mount whipped the ball into the box and the ball hit the German’s back before making a loop, the Italian shooter in no mans land during the corner kick.

Spurs never really snorted

Chelsea were dominating and looking to strengthen their lead when Hudson-Odoi saw an effort parried for a corner by Gollini.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg took the best chance of the Spurs game right next door after Kane’s effort at close range bounced off him.

And the hosts thought they had a penalty shortly before half-time when Rudiger knocked down Højbjerg as he was going on goal.

However, a VAR exam showed the foul had occurred outside the area and after Spurs failed to get the set piece to count the teams entered the break with Chelsea holding a lead deserved.

Spurs incredibly had two penalties and one goal ruled by VAR

Ten minutes into the break, Spurs saw a second shot on goal ruled out by VAR after Kepa Arrizabalaga came on trial for winning the ball fairly from Lucas Moura.

Kepa then made a brilliant save from a powerful Emerson Royal header as the hosts looked to find their way into the draw.

Spurs then incredibly ruled out a goal when Kane was ruled offside after scoring at home what he thought was the equalizer.

But the Blues were ultimately hardly tested in the second half and were once again worthy of winners.

Tuchel’s men will now face Arsenal or Liverpool in the final at Wembley, with the two remaining matches to be played between the two teams.
