Chelsea await scans amid fears Ben Chilwell may have anterior cruciate ligament injury

Chelsea and England left-back Ben Chilwell awaits scans fearing he will be out for a long time with a knee injury.

The Blues had a sensational night out beating Juventus 4-0 in the Champions League, but it seems to have come at a cost as the 24-year-old may no longer feature in this campaign.

The Daily Telegraph says Chelsea is nervously awaiting the scan results fearing it may be an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

If so, the England star could be out for six to nine months which would not only rule him out for this season but could see him miss the start of the next campaign.

N’Golo Kante also suffered a knee injury, but that shouldn’t be as bad as the Englishman’s problem.

Either way, it’s a blow to everyone involved given the form he’s shown this season.

After taking back the left-back spot from Marcos Alonso, the 24-year-old made some scintillating displays.

He has started the last six Premier League games and not only has he helped Tuchel’s side stay at the top of the table, but he has contributed three goals and one assist during that run.

Given Tuchel’s in-depth strength, he is hopeful that this won’t derail the club’s ambitions of winning a first league title since 2017 as well as retaining the Champions League.
