Georgia Adams’ unbeaten 47 saw the Southern Vipers maintain a 100% record in the Charlotte Edwards Cup as they ousted Northern Diamonds with a six-wicket win.
Diamonds, who beat the Vipers in the 2021 playoff before losing the final to the South East Stars, needed an Ageas Bowl win to extend their hopes in this year’s tournament.
Nat Sciver’s 50 on 37 balls and an undefeated 48 on 39 from Hollie Armitage put the visitors up 141-4 after going at bat.
But Danni Wyatt hit 35 of 16 and Skipper Adams’ 41-ball shot, which included seven fours and a six, carried the Vipers to the brink of victory.
Ella McCaughan’s unbeaten 27 saw the home side – who had already secured a place in next weekend’s final in Northampton – claim their sixth win from six with 10 deliveries to go.
The result means Central sparks are assured of a place in this year’s playoff against the Stars, despite their seven-wicket loss to western storm at New Road.
Amy Jones led the way with 63-for-46 as the Sparks went 134-4, with 17-year-old Storm spinner Sophia Smale taking 2-17 in her four overs.
Georgia Hennessy paved the way for Storm with the bat, hitting an undefeated 47 of 45 to bring his team home with seven unused balls.
