The South East Stars advanced straight to the Charlotte Edwards Cup final after a dominant 26-point victory over Central Sparks.

Prodigy Alice Capsey was missing the stars due to injury, but her replacement Chloe Brewer, 19, who was playing her first regional game of the season, beat 41 of 33 balls.

Emma Jones – passed the order to No.6 – then scored the opening goal with an unbeaten 46 on 27 balls as the Stars posted 165-6, as Clare Boycott’s 3-22 turned out in vain.

Eve Jones led forward in the Sparks chase with 76 of 68 balls, but by the time she was blocked in the 19th the result was a formality and the Stars advance to the final on September 5.

Gunn, 35, stepped back the years taking 4-15 for the Diamonds as the hosts were limited to 90-9 of their 20 overs with the modest target never looking enough to prevent a win for the visitors.

Bess Heath (58-40) led the way for the Diamonds in the pursuit as they headed to victory in 12.2 overs to advance to the day of the final.

The Storm opener shared the stand of 68 and 51 with Fi Morris (21 of 19) and Sophie Luff (34 of 26) as the visitors posted 147-5 on their 20 overs.

The Sunrisers pushed them through with helpful contributions throughout the order, but narrowly failed with wrist spinner Nicole Harvey taking 3-17 for the Storm.
