Celtics championship parade to be held Friday in Boston. Cue the duck boats.

BOSTON – The duck boats are ready and the city of Boston will celebrate the 18th championship in Celtics history with a rolling rally Friday.

When will the Celtics parade take place?

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced that a rolling rally would take place in the city on Friday.

Officials will reveal more details about the parade at a news conference Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Boston Duck Tours posted “Cue the ducks” on social media overnight, with the caption “Who’s ready for a parade?” »

What is the Celtics parade route?

According to Wu’s office, the parade will begin at 11 a.m. in front of TD Garden.

After turning onto Causeway Street, the duck boats will pass City Hall Plaza and the Boston Common on Tremont Street.

The parade will end on Boylston Street near the Hynes Convention Center.

Boston heatwave impacts parade plans

City officials have an added challenge in planning Boston’s final championship parade. The Celtics clinched the title as a likely heat wave was about to arrive with potentially record temperatures in Boston.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released its heat risk outlook, with parts of New England classified in the “extreme” risk zone. WBZ-TV executive weather producer Terry Eliasen called it “very rare” for the area.

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 90s Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Boston.

At Tuesday’s press conference, the city plans to share its preparations for the expected high temperatures.

Celtics’ road to NBA title

The Celtics won the canoe parade with a dominant performance throughout the playoffs that continued into the NBA Finals.

Boston took a 3-0 series lead. Dallas scored a dominant victory in Game 4 to send the series back to Boston. But on Monday night at TD Garden, the Celtics ended things and broke a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most NBA team titles in history.

Jaylen Brown received the award Bill Russell, NBA Finals Most Valuable Player reward after the match.
