Boston Celtics fans held their breath Tuesday night when star player Jaylen Brown fell in the first quarter, reportedly injuring his ankle.

Brown was down for a long time before getting up and leaving the game under his own power.

The Celtics have been on a roll lately and Brown has been a major part of that. Boston diehards therefore feared losing one of the most important parts of their team.

Head coach Ime Udoka gave a quick update on Brown after the game.

He said Brown was feeling some swelling and pain but actually wanted to come back during the game, although the team decided to keep him out to play it safe.

Udoka said he doesn’t expect the injury to be long term, but “you never know”.

The Celtics have come alive lately and have been on a tear in the Eastern Conference.

After a lot of inconsistencies at the start of the season, the Celtics are now 37-27 and are sixth in the East.

They’re playing much, much better than they were just a few months ago – and Brown is a major factor in their rebounding season.

Brown averaged 23.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and was instrumental in plays and points scored.

The Celtics have found ways to survive without Brown — they beat the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday by a 107-98 final after all — but there’s no doubt they want him back as soon as possible.

They will especially need Brown as they enter the playoffs, as the Eastern Conference is more stacked and competitive and neck and neck than it has been in ages.

Luckily, it looks like the star player is set to return soon.
