CHICAGO (SCS) — Pop the champagne and step into a world of splendor and romance as the Moulin Rouge prepares to take the stage in Chicago.
“This show is going to open the theatrical season with the excitement we’ve all been waiting for in theater,” said Eileen LaCario, of Broadway in Chicago.
It doesn’t officially open until March 19, but we got a taste this morning at the Nederlander Theater.
The show was supposed to be here in 2020, but COVID delayed the tour.
The producers and cast are thrilled to have Chicago as the first leg of the tour – including Elgin native Courtney Reed, who plays Sateen.
“It’s about community and love, and when you walk into the Moulin Rouge everyone is welcome. I think that should ring true for the world,” Reed said.
“Chicago audiences are smart and insightful, but they’re warm and generous. I can’t wait for them to see what we do in this theater,” producer Bill Damaschke said.
The Moulin Rouge runs from March 19 to May 14.
Tickets are on sale now at the Nederlander Theater and on BroadwayinChicago.com.
