Cardiff Blues have announced that they will be known as Cardiff Rugby from the 2021-22 season.

The Arms Park outfit has been known as the Blues since Welsh rugby was regionalized in 2003, but will now drop the brand and revert to the traditional Cardiff colors of blue and black.

“Cardiff Rugby is a world famous brand and we just need to leverage it to build lasting success on and off the pitch,” said CEO Richard Holland.

“Not only is Cardiff recognized globally in rugby circles, but it is also the trading power of Wales and one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and Europe.

“Over a long period of time our supporters and sponsors have been very clear that this is what they want and I’m glad we were able to respond to them so positively, especially at a time when they were standing in our sides.

“We are extremely excited to see what the future holds and look forward to seeing the Blues and Blacks run out in the iconic Arms Park, whether in Regional Age Grade, Indigo Group Premiership, Guinness PRO14 competitions. or European competition. “
