Raiders general manager Don Furner defended under pressure from coach Ricky Stuart, instead blaming the players for five straight losses.
Nine NRL insider Michael Chammas spoke to Furner on Sunday and said he was “pretty scathing” about the team’s performance in recent weeks.
“He said, ‘It was appalling, that the players were embarrassed by themselves’ because he was embarrassed to watch the game,” Chammas said in reference to Saturday’s golden point loss to the Warriors. .

Chammas said he asked Furner directly about Stuart’s future as a coach.
He reportedly replied, “Ricky’s not one to make stupid decisions and throw stupid passes. He said the losses of the past two weeks were ‘inexcusable’.”
Chammas also said Canberra’s underachieving players were warned.
“Don’t be surprised if there’s a massive cleanup at the Raiders this summer if these results continue to go against them,” he said.
