California will continue to lose hundreds of thousands of residents to friendlier places in Florida, Tennessee and Texas if the crime and tax crises aren’t reversed at the ballot box, the commentator said on Monday. curator Dave Rubin at Fox News.
Rubin, author of ‘Don’t Burn This Country’, told Fox News he recently joined the exodus from Los Angeles, saying far-left prosecutor George Gascon’s latest behavior was ‘the perfect example of why”.
Gascon recently sentenced a young driver convicted of ramming a car into a mother and her toddler to five months in a diversionary “camp” program instead of hard time. The mother later said she was told the convict would have his record expunged when he turned 18.
“That’s exactly what’s been happening in Los Angeles for a few years now,” Rubin said of California’s penchant for tolerating far-left governance and criminal justice policies. “And let’s not forget that George Gascon’s previous job before he was a Los Angeles district attorney, he was a district attorney, I think, for seven years in San Francisco.”

Rubin said since Gascon left the Bay Area, the “dystopian nightmare” has only gotten worse under leftist prosecutor Chesa Boudin, son of the late Weather Underground member Kathy Boudin.
“What’s happening in the world of progressive politics, especially in California, is you’re exporting this from San Francisco and now it’s Los Angeles,” he said.
“And unfortunately, until the people of Los Angeles and California decide more broadly to start voting for other people – until California decides it can no longer be a one-party state , it’s going to keep happening.”

“There’s going to be more crime. There’s going to be lighter sentences and more chaos on the streets…I now live in the Free State of Florida, and this is a perfect example of why.”
Rubin said there are still savvy officials in California’s liberal enclaves, praising Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villaneuva for pushing Gascon back at times.

When Gascon’s office allegedly claimed the sheriff’s department agreed with the juvenile driver’s light sentence, Villeneuva forcefully pushed back.
“We were never consulted because we were not the investigating agency,” LACSO said, prompting Gascon’s office to correct its initial statement.
