A California bail officer who was shot in the face while stalking a bail suspect has recovered, officials said.

Fugitive warrant officer Jesse Nunez and his partner attempted to apprehend the suspect on Friday after being tipped off to his location when an altercation occurred, FOX 5 of San Diego reported.

Nunez and his partner, who has not been identified, were tipped off that the warrant suspect had fled to a vacant building in El Cajon when they chased him and attempted to subdue him, they said. .

“He pulled out a gun during the struggle and shot me once in the cheek, which came out of my left ear,” added Nunez, who was taken to hospital and since recovered, Fox 5 reported.
