Business creations fell by 16.3% in the 1st quarter

After a good first quarter in 2021 with 29,471 registrations in the commercial register, business creations fell by 16.3% to 24,660 units at the end of March 2022. Compared to their level in 2019 which was 28,751, they contracted by 14.2%. According to the quarterly dashboard of the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), legal persons dominated with no less than 17,444 units, against 7,216 for natural persons. Trade holds the lead in creations with 35.55%, followed by construction and real estate activities (19.13%) and miscellaneous services (16.80%).

The breakdown by legal form shows a predominance of limited liability companies with a single partner (SARLAU) which monopolize more than half (62.6%) against 37.2% for SARLs and 0.1% for SAs. By region, Casablanca-Settat naturally tops the podium with 7,163 structures created at the end of March, followed by Tangier-Al Hoceïma (3,388) and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (3,330). Remember that the Office is determined to streamline the business creation process.

During a meeting organized on April 26 in Casablanca on the occasion of World Industrial Property Day, the institution announced that the project for an electronic platform for the creation and support of companies is ready. “The decree establishing it has been signed by all the ministerial departments concerned and we are only waiting for the green light from the government council to put it on track,” says Abdelaziz Babqiqi, director general of OMPIC.

The platform, called “Direct-entreprise”, will include three families of services: creation procedures and post-creation modification registrations, services for filing and requesting certificates and validation of data from the Central Commercial Register. Through “Direct-entreprise”, OMPIC thus intends to align itself with international practices in the creation of companies, modernize and simplify the procedures relating to the life of the company and contribute to improving the business climate.
