Burger King to release $5 value meal to compete with McDonald’s

Fast food chain Burger King will launch a new value meal ahead of schedule as rival chains launch their own meal deals.

“We are bringing our ‘Your Way Meal’ down to $5, as agreed with our franchisees in April,” a Burger King spokesperson said Thursday (May 23).

The news was first reported by Bloomberg News.

The meal will include a choice of three sandwiches accompanied by chicken nuggets, fries and a drink, Burger King said.

We don’t know when this promotion will begin, but it should remain on the menu for several months.

Currently, Burger King is promoting a $6 “birthday meal” including a Whopper Jr., small fries, a small drink and a slice of “birthday pie” to celebrate its 70th birthday.

The announcement of a new meal deal comes as rival fast food chain McDonald’s prepares to offer, for a limited time, its own $5 meal deal.

The $5 McDonald’s meal will include a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, a four-piece McNugget, medium fries and a drink, Fox Business previously reported.

The McDonald’s promotion will run for four weeks at participating restaurants, starting at the end of June.

Burger King’s “Your Way Meal” was reportedly announced earlier than expected to better compete with McDonald’s new offering, multiple outlets reported.

Wendy’s, another fast food chain, is also offering a limited-time combo meal, but only during breakfast hours. Wendy’s previously offered a “Four for $4” meal similar to upcoming $5 meals from McDonald’s and Burger King.

Earlier this year, Wendy’s said it was considering raising prices on its menu items, charging more during busier times. This proved extremely unpopular on social media and the channel quickly backtracked, saying there were no plans to implement these changes.

Since 2019, fast food prices have increased significantly, Fox Business previously reported. Restaurant prices as a whole have increased 22% since then.
