Bulls’ Nikola Vučević applauds trade rumors after Rudy Gobert deal – NBC Chicago

Vučević responds to trade rumors after Gobert deal first appears on NBC Sports Chicago
In the weeks leading up to NBA free agency, many trade rumors swirled around Utah Jazz Center head Rudy Gobert.
More than a few of those rumors linked the Chicago Bulls to the three-time Defensive Player of the Year — and by extension, Nikola Vučević found himself caught in the crosshairs of concoctions of internet trading machines.
In the end, the Jazz dealt Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a huge carry centered on a bushel of unprotected first-round picks. But Vučević had some jokes to crack before the buzz died down completely.
“Glad my offer for the house I found in Salt Lake (City) was rejected then,” the Bulls starting center said on Twitter following ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reporting the news.
Vučević’s sarcastic response certainly leaves the impression that he never believed he was off to Utah.
For now, the Bulls have taken a fringe approach to improving their roster, focusing on retaining Zach LaVine and adding free-agent center Andre Drummond to serve as a back-up for Vučević.
But if other rumors arise, expect Vučević to find humor in them.
