As the money continues to flow for Starman in the Betfair Sprint Cup, William Buick is optimistic that he can challenge the favorite in Haydock’s centerpiece aboard Creative Force.
The Godolphin-owned gelding was defeated for the first time this season two lengths behind Starman in the fifth, as stable star Ed Walker topped the Darley July Cup.
Creative Force then suddenly missed the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood, while Starman was third in the Prix Maurice de Gheest over six and a half stadiums – which seemed to stretch him at Deauville.
Buick said of the Creative Force formed by Charlie Appleby: “We’re on track for the Sprint Cup this weekend, and it hasn’t done anything wrong all season. I can’t wait to ride it again on Saturday.
“Starman is a good horse, and we have to get him back, but I hope we can close the gap with him a bit this time around.
“It didn’t really surprise us what he’s been up to this season as he raced in the Coventry Stakes at the age of two. He’s always been held in high regard, but he’s just a horse. lovely to be around. “
