Aidan O’Brien’s Broome had a winning hat trick winning Group 2 Coolmore Sottsass Irish EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at Curragh.
The five-year-old started his season with a Listed victory in the Devoy Stakes at Naas in March, following that victory with a Group 3 triumph in the Alleged Stakes at Curragh in April.
Starting off as a 4-9 favorite for Monday’s competition, Australia’s whole son prevailed more comfortably than the two-length winning margin suggested in the hands of Ryan Moore.
“He’s a lovely horse and he’s come back very well this year,” said the jockey.
“There’s a lot of them left in there and he’s kind of played with them to be honest.
“He’s undefeated at 10 (stages), but I think he will go further.”
Regarding the bay’s chances of holding on on his return to Group 1, Moore added, “He’s only had a few tries and was fourth twice, so he’s entitled to do it again.”
Noel Meade’s Helvic Dream came second, with Joseph O’Brien’s Twilight Payment four and a half lengths further in third.
