Britney Spears says she’s celebrating Christmas earlier this year because “why not?”
The pop star, 39, is set to take back power over her affairs for the first time since a court ruled her unfit in 2008 following a series of mental breakdowns.
It is believed that guardianship, a legal provision generally reserved for the very old or sick, could end before the end of the year.
Spears posted a number of times on Instagram on Saturday, once with a photo of a Christmas tree, writing: “I’m celebrating Christmas early this year … because why not?
“I believe that any reason to find more joy in life is a good idea … and it’s no secret that I have experienced it in the past … so maybe I should do the things a little differently from now on. “
“Lord have mercy on the souls of my family if I ever do an interview. Until then …
“I stay away from business which is all I’ve known in my entire life… that’s why it’s so confusing to me. Anyway… God bless you all.”
She also shared her “loathing” for the system that allowed her father and others to control her life for 13 years, but admitted that she was “afraid of doing something wrong” with the freedom that she expects to profit soon.
She said: “I’m just going to be honest and say I’ve waited so long to be released from the situation I’m in… and now that it’s here I’m scared to do anything because that I’m afraid of “going to make a mistake.
“For so many years, I’ve always been told that if I succeed, it could end … and it never was.
“I’ve worked so hard but now that it’s here and I’m getting closer and closer to the end, I’m very happy but there (are) a lot of things that scare me.”
Writing about the paparazzi, she said: “I don’t like them trying to scare me and jump like they do… it’s like they want me to do something crazy.
“So like I said I’m afraid to do something wrong… so I won’t post so much in a world where it’s our freedom to be free, it’s a shame.
“I started to feel this when I first got the keys to my car four months ago and it’s been 13 years.”
In September, Jamie Spears has been officially removed from his post of the responsibility of overseeing his daughter’s financial wealth, a move that many commentators say marks the beginning of the end for the star’s guardianship.
