Britney Spears thanks #FreeBritney fans for their support in her attempt to end the trusteeship | Ents & Arts News

Britney Spears directly thanked the #FreeBritney movement for their work in helping them end their tutelage.

The global movement has campaigned for years to try to end the star’s guardianship – the controversial legal arrangement that saw his father (until last week) control all aspects of his life and career.

Meeting in a Los Angeles court last week, the group celebrated when Jamie Spears has been officially removed from his post overseeing her daughter’s financial estate, many believing this to be the beginning of the end of guardianship.

The arrangement could end in its entirety by the end of the year, with lawyer Matthew Rosengart taking an aggressive approach to the proceedings.

Spears has now used her medium of choice Instagram to speak directly to her followers, admitting they’ve reduced her to tears.

She wrote: “# FreeBritney movement… I have no words…

“Because of you guys and your constant resilience to free me from my tutelage… my life is now in this direction !!!!!

“I cried last night for two hours because my fans are the best and I know it… I feel your heart and you feel mine… I know it’s true !!!!!”

The 39-year-old also shared a video of her posing next to the caption.

Spears’ dad suspended as curator

A hearing to decide whether or not to end the guardianship is scheduled for next month.

It comes after Spears won a legal victory over his father last week, when a judge ruled he should be taken out of the arrangement after 13 years, claiming the 69-year-old’s involvement didn’t was more in his best interest.

His legal team fought against the movement.
