Bristol City beat Reading 3-2 to increase their chances of survival in the Women’s Super League.

England international Ebony Salmon scored the winning goal with 11 minutes remaining to move the hosts from the bottom of the table on International Women’s Day.

Reading opened the scoring at Ashton Gate in the 14th minute when Emma Harries scored from close range.

Charlie Wellings tied the score 10 minutes later, finishing Salmon’s through pass.

Jemma Purfield had City ahead in the 58th minute, passing the ball over Reading goalkeeper Grace Moloney, only for the Royals to equalize 15 minutes later with a fantastic strike from Rachel Rowe.

However, Salmon settled the game in favor of the hosts in the 79th minute with a perfectly placed shot in the lower right corner, his 10th goal of the season.

Rowe was sacked for a second yellow card in the playoffs and Robins interim head coach Matt Beard watched his team hang in there.

City’s second win of the season saw them climb over former Beard club West Ham.
