Brighton have signed Billy Gilmour from Chelsea.
The Scottish midfielder, who was linked with Everton earlier this summer, joins the Seagulls for a fee between £8m and £9m, according to talkSPORT.
Brighton boss Graham Potter said: “Billy arrives with a fantastic pedigree, having played in the Premier League and Champions League as well as for Scotland at last year’s Euros. He will complete our options. existing midfielders.
“This experience at a young age shows his strength of character and we are really excited about his potential.
“Now it’s about giving him time to get used to a new environment and settle into our club. We look forward to working with him.
Letting Gilmour go on a permanent transfer may come as a surprise to Chelsea fans, with the player bursting onto the scene aged 18 in an FA Cup win over Liverpool in February 2020.
His performance was so good that it even impressed Manchester United icon Roy Keane.
“He was fantastic,” Keane said.
