‘Bridgerton’ star details ’embarrassing’ wardrobe malfunction

What would the ladies of the ton say?

“Bridgerton” actor Jonathan Bailey, who plays none other than “Capital R Rake” Anthony Bridgerton, has revealed a pretty inappropriate wardrobe malfunction that happened while filming Season 2.

While attending a press event for the new season of the hit period drama, which will premiere on Netflix on Friday, the actor told members of the media that “there were multiple moments” when was asked if there had been any blunders on set.

“The fencing streak led to its complications,” Bailey, 33, said.

“But the fencing outfits were quite tight in various places and we wore tennis shoes on a fairly wet morning on the grass. Going in for my last lunge with Benedict, my crotch tore and it was all on camera.

The British actor, who previously starred in the drama ‘Broadchurch’, said he came out of the situation red-faced.

“It’s just those moments when you suddenly realize you’re being filmed by 400 cameras and I kind of shouted, ‘This is so embarrassing’.”

Fortunately, thanks to the magic of the filming, they were able to hide the incident.

“There are a lot of complications along the way, it’s never as smooth as you think,” he said. “It’s amazing what you can do in edits.”

Commenting on the show’s incredible period outfits, Bailey added, “Obviously the costumes were amazing in every way and as men we’re not going to complain about restrictive clothing when we’re sitting with women who wear corsets.”

Speaking of corsets, the actor – who is currently starring in West End play ‘Cock’ – wasn’t the only ‘Bridgerton’ star with wardrobe issues.

Simone Ashley, who plays Bailey’s love interest Kate Sharma in the new season, shared in a recent interview that wearing the old-fashioned underwear involved “a lot of pain.”

Adding that she must have been sick after eating a huge lunch, she told Glamor UK, “I realized that when you wear the corset you just don’t eat. It changes your body.

Fans can catch the gorgeous (so painful) Regency Styles when Bridgerton Season 2 hits Netflix March 25; we’re going to watch this fencing scene with an eagle’s eye.
