MADISON, Alabama – Home town track and field heroes are the ones who succeed, but never forget where they came from, giving the kids someone to look up to. This is exactly what brewer Hicklen does.
The former Huntsville baseball star is part of the Kansas City Royals organization. Hicklen is coming off a massive Double-A ball season, and now he’s using his time in the offseason to give back.
Hicklen held his fourth annual baseball camp at Bob Jones High School, helping the next generation thrive on the field. For him, the joy that comes from his camp never really gets old.
“There’s no doubt that when you watch these kids running around with an innocent smile, you kind of wish you were in their shoes,” Hicklen said. “You know you have no bills, other responsibilities than just coming here, soaking up all the knowledge, having a good time and meeting new people and that’s what I love to see smile about.” on the faces of these children. Every year it seems like we have more and more children and I am so grateful for that.
