Brandy Love denies Love Sending to Fairyhouse | Race News

Brandy Love got the better of Cheltenham Festival hero Love Envoi in the Grade One Irish Stallion Farms Novice Hurdle EBF Mares Championship Final at Fairyhouse.

Willie Mullins’ horse was forced to skip a trip to Prestbury Park after being ruled out with a late setback, but the eccentric daughter of Jet Away was given ample compensation at the hands of Paul Townend.

The 9/2 shooter, sporting a balaclava for the first time, sped up in style as he approached the final flight and although jumping a little to his left at the obstacle before banking towards the side rail of the stands, she continued strongly to win by eight lengths.

Harry Fry’s raider Love Envoi (15/8 favourite) had to settle for second place ahead of the gallant stable mate of the Off Piste winner (20/1), who did most of the race and retained third place ahead of another of Mullins’ contingent, Dinoblue.

Paddy Power makes Brandy Love 7/1 to 14/1 for David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham next season.
