Boxing returns to Atlantic City, NJ, on Saturday

Atlantic City boxers Justin Figueroa and Francisco Rodriguez will be in action Saturday night at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall’s Adrian Phillips Ballroom.
Figueroa (3-0, 3 KO), Holy Spirit High School graduate and member of the Atlantic City Beach Patrol, will seek his fourth straight win in a four-round super welterweight bout against Manuel Moreira (0-3) , of Sheridan, Wyoming. Moreria is also a mixed martial arts competitor. Figueroa is coming off a third-round TKO against Rahiem Cooke on Feb. 11 at the Showboat Hotel Atlantic City. He is trained by Arnold Robbins and John Gibbons.
Rodriguez, a graduate of Pleasantville High School, was supposed to make his professional debut on this show last month, but his opponent pulled out at the last minute. He will face fellow ring rookie Marco Dorame of Sierra Vista, Arizona in a four-round super featherweight bout.
Nine fights are scheduled for the show, which is promoted by Millville-based Rising Star Promotions. Popular heavyweight Kristian Prenga (12-1, 12 KOs), originally from Albania and now living in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, is headlining a 10-rounder against Samuel Crossed (11-3-1, 7 KOs), of Greenbelt, Maryland.
Ballroom doors open at 6 p.m. with the first fight scheduled for 7. A limited number of tickets ranging from $57 to $138 are available through Ticketmaster.com.
