Boston Police Harbor Patrolmen blocked groom Patrick Mahoney at wedding

Officers from the Boston Police Department’s Harbor Patrol Unit rescued a stranded groom and whisked him away on their boat to his island wedding this weekend, authorities said.

Patrick Mahoney was due to get married on Thompson Island in the middle of Boston Harbor on Saturday when the ferry that was supposed to take him to the island – where his future wife, Hannah, and others were waiting for him – went down broken down, Boston police said.

Officer Joe Matthews and others responded to the disabled boat. When they realized the situation was “catastrophic”, the officers escorted the groom to the island – along with the photographer, the DJ and all the flowers. In total, they transported more than ten people.

“They were there very quickly to get my groomsmen and all of our vendors here on the island and save the day,” Mahoney told the Boston Globe.

Hours later, police say, Matthews returned to the island to congratulate the couple before heading to their reception.

“It was good to get a good call to change and help people,” he said. “They seemed happy and we were happy to be able to do it. Everything worked. »
