Bogotá: water cut for 24 hours will affect five towns

The Bogotá Aqueduct and Sewer Company (EAAB) reported that there will be water cuts in some neighborhoods in the north and west of the city, starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23.

The cut will be made to intervene a valve in the Santa Ana Hydroelectric Power Plant. According to the EAAB, the valve is presenting problems in its operation and it is necessary to correct it so that the excess hydraulic energy of the water that passes through there is used.

The service will be suspended in five locations: Suba, Engativá, Fontibón, Kennedy and some neighborhoods of Usaquén.

In the following neighborhoods of Usaquén, the service will be interrupted for 12 hours: Barrancas Oriental Rural, Bosque de Pinos I, Bosque de Pinos III, Ginebra, La Cita, San Gabriel Norte II, Santa Ana, Segundo Contador, Usaquén, Páramo II Rural and Páramo III Rural.

The 12-hour outage will also affect any home or business located from 163D Street to 173rd Street, and those located between Diagonal 108 and 153rd Street, from Carrera 7th to the eastern limit of the town. For this area, service should be fully restored by 4pm on Thursday, February 24.

In these neighborhoods of the same locality, the service will be interrupted for 24 hours: Geneva II, Páramo Urbano I, San Gabriel Norte and Páramo. That is, from Calle 127A to Calle 127C, between Carrera 1E and Carrera 6. For these, service should be fully restored by 2am on Friday 25th February.

Two sectors of Fontibón will be affected by this maintenance. One goes from Calle 26 to Calle 24, between Carrera 68 Avenue and the Bogotá River. The other goes from Calle 26 to Diagonal 13, between Carrera 68 Avenue and Boyacá Avenue.

The neighborhoods that will suffer the cut are El Cedro, Las Navetas, Los Alamos, Pueblo Viejo, San José de Fontibón, Ferrocaja Fontibón, Puerta de Teja, Santa Cecilia, Franco, Granjas de Techo, La Esperanza north, La Esperanza south, Montevideo, Western saltpeter and the Transport Terminal.

In these neighborhoods, service should be fully restored by 2am on Friday, February 25.

The properties affected by this cut in Kennedy go from Calle 13 to Calle 26 Sur, between Carrera 68 Avenue and Carrera 72 Avenue.

This sector corresponds to the neighborhoods Andalucía II, Capellanía, Ciudad Hayuelos, Ciudad Kennedy, Ciudad Salitre sur, Cooperativa de sub, Hipotecho, Hipotecho occidental, Hipotecho sur, Lusitania, Marsella, Montevideo, Nuevo Techo, Oficiales, Oriental, Provivienda oriental, Villa Alsace, Villa Alsace II.

In these neighborhoods, service should be fully restored by 2am on Friday, February 25.

To ensure that users have water during this time out of service, the aqueduct recommends users fill their reserve tanks and make rational use of the liquid.

The public company will also have a tank truck service to supply health posts, nursing homes, foundations, community kitchens, ICBF homes and priority and community care sites. The service can be requested through Acualínea 116.
