Bmw launches its third generation Bmw X1 in India

BMW India on Saturday launched its 3rd generation BMW X1 sports activity vehicle (SAV) in the country in both petrol and diesel versions. The price of its petrol variant, BMW X1 sDrive18i xLine, is Rs 45,90,000, while the diesel variant, BMW X1 sDrive18d M Sport, is priced at Rs 47,90,000.

Produced locally at the BMW Group plant in Chennai, the car is available for reservations through the BMW dealer network and through Shop.bmw.in. Deliveries for the diesel variant will start from March and for the petrol variant from June.

The third-generation luxury SAV comes with a host of new features, many of which are either best-in-class or a first in the segment. New highlights include adaptive LED headlights with high beam assistant, BMW Live Cockpit Plus with curved BMW display, My BMW App with remote functions, Digital Key Plus with comfort access, parking and reversing, active seats, dashboard luxury, Harmon Kardon audio system and much more.

According to BMW, the new X1 is a SAV (sports activity vehicle) and the new X1 is larger than its predecessor in all dimensions – its 53mm longer, 24mm wider, 44mm longer and wheelbase increased by 22 mm.

The monolithic design, surface lines and sleek exterior display its SAV identity more clearly than ever. The front right has a much larger presence with slim LED headlights and a large, almost square BMW grille. Segment-best adaptive LED headlights with high beam assistant and LED rear lights are now available as standard.

It greets passengers in style with Welcome Light Staging. Ambient lighting with six dimmable light designs creates an atmosphere for every mood while 2-zone automatic climate control maintains the perfect temperature.

Adding to the feeling of space is the large glass sunroof. The large 476-litre luggage compartment can be expanded to 1,527 liters with the useful functionality of the optional 40:20:40 split backrest. At the same time, the contactless operation of the comfort access boot lid provides greater flexibility for loading/unloading. The wireless charging pad available in both variants provides an NFC interface for charging via the “Qi” charging standard.

The petrol variant is powered by a 1,995cc four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 148PS and 360Nm of peak torque. The car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. Average fuel consumption is 20.37 km/litre as measured by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for Indian market specifications.

The diesel variant is powered by a 1,499cc three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 134PS and 230Nm of peak torque. The car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds. Average fuel consumption is 16.3 km/litre as measured by ARAI for Indian market specifications.

The luxury SUV is available in non-metallic paintwork Alpine White and Space Silver, Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire and M Portimao Blue (exclusive to M Sport). The choice of coatings includes Sensatec Perforated Mocha and Sensatec Perforated Oyster.
