Lively died of heart complications in Los Angeles on June 3, her representative, Julie Smith, confirmed to USA Today.
The actress has since shared a photo of herself snuggling up to her father with her head resting on his shoulder on her Instagram Stories. She added a brown heart emoji to the post.
“Gossip Girl” alumna’s husband Ryan Reynolds also shared the post.
Lively Sr. had over 100 acting credits to her credit, including roles on the television shows “The Waltons”, “The Dukes of Hazzard”, “The X-Files” and “That ’70s Show”.
His big screen appearances have included films such as “American Pie 2”, “Air America” and “Turner & Hooch”.
In 2005, he played the famous role of Blake Lively’s character’s father in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and reprized his role for the film’s sequel in 2008.
Traveling Pants co-star Amber Tamblyn also paid tribute on Instagram.
Writing in her Instagram Stories, she said: “Rest in Peace, our dear and wonderful Brotherhood Dad: Ernie Lively. What a funny, kind and generous soul. We will miss you but never. We love you. @Blakelively I t love my sister. ”
