Goa Election Results 2022 Live Updates:
Early trends point to a close contest between the BJP and the Congress in Goa, with independents and other parties including the AAP, TMC and MGP expected to play a major role in the event of a deadlocked assembly. Exit polls released by various agencies have also predicted neck and neck competition among various state actors. Polls to elect the new State Assembly were held on February 14. Besides Congress and BJP, AAP, TMC, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Shiv Sena, NCP, Revolutionary Goans, Goencho Swabhimaan Party and Jai Mahabharat Party among others are also in the polls scrum alongside 68 independent candidates. Prominent contenders in scrum in Goa this time include Pramod Sawant, Utpal Parrikar, Digambar Kamat, Michael Lobo, Atanasio Monserrate, Churchill Alemao, Ravi Naik and Laxmikant Parsekar. Ahead of the March 10 results, heated debates took place in the BJP and Congress camps, with top leaders from both parties meeting with their candidates and discussing ways to push for government formation in Goa. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who contested Sankhalim’s election, claimed the BJP would win the return to power after winning more than 22 seats. Congress and the Goa Forward Party (GFP) forged an alliance ahead of the polls, while the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC tied up with the MGP. Congress fielded 37 candidates and its GFP ally three, while the BJP contested the 40 seats.
