Billy Slater on Titans David Fifita, Justin Holbrook, Siosifa Talakai
League legend Billy Slater has offered Gold Coast advice on how to get $1.25million star David Fifita into the game.
The Titans have lost three on the trot – the latest being a shocking 30-4 thrashing at the hands of North Queensland – and as happens in a crisis of form, the blowtorch is on the highest-paid player .
Fifita was moved from fullback to center against the Cowboys, but that failed to ignite him or the team.

The raging striker had scored just two tries in six games before manager Justin Holbrook’s decision to move Fifita for the game against North Queensland.
Slater wants the Titans to learn from Cronulla’s book when it comes to forward-turned-center Siosifa Talakai.
Talakai had two tries and three assists against Manly in the seventh round, in what many were calling the best game by a center in recent memory.
“I watch Talakai at the Sharks, and he puts the ball in really good positions,” Slater told Wide World of Sports. Billy’s breakdown.
“He had an amazing game this weekend, and that’s what’s going on with him.
“It’s really difficult for David (Fifita) if he just gets the ball and (they say) ‘do your thing’ – he does that once in a while. But at the same time he has to get the ball in those situations.
“So make the players work for Dave, but Dave also has to put in the effort to get him.”
Following Fifita’s spell in the centres, Holbrook admitted the club had no choice but to take the gamble given their disappointing start to 2022.
