Billie Eilish shares her experience living with Tourette syndrome

Billie Eilish shares what it’s like for her to live with Gilles de la Tourette syndrome.

The singer, 20, spoke about the subject during the season four premiere of My Guest Needs No Introduction with David Lettermanwhich premiered on Netflix on May 20.

According to Cedars Sinai, “Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder that causes people to make involuntary sounds, words, and body movements, called tics.”

After having a twitch, the “nasty” artist told the host David Letterman“If you film me long enough, you’re going to see a lot of tics.”

Eilish said people don’t always understand when it’s happening in the moment. “The most common way people react is to laugh because they think I’m trying to be funny,” she said. “They think I’m going like [imitates tic] like a strange movement. So they go like, ‘Ha.’ And I’m still incredibly offended by that. Or they go like, ‘What?’ And then I say, ‘I have the Tourette.'”
